In a ceremony held at the BA, Herta Margaret Habsburg – Lothringen, President of the Flame of Peace Organization, presented the Flame of Peace 2013 Award to Ismail Serageldin.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of the Flame of Peace Monument. Made of wood and mounted on stone, it is a symbol for peace, bravery and perseverance. On the donation of the monument, Herta Margaret Habsburg – Lothringen said, “With this external symbol, the Flame of Peace, much courage and strength are given to the exemplary and responsible task that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and its Director Ismail Serageldin have taken upon themselves to exercise their tasks in peace and with joy, to radiate a feeling of security and reliability, to show steadfastness in all concerns”.
The Flame of Peace Organization recognizes public personalities who seeks to strengthen peace and mutual relations between the peoples of the world.
