Serageldin gives a keynote presentation today at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Thuwal Saudi Arabia. Entitled “Building a Global Knowledge Society”, the lecture describes the major social and technological forces that are fostering and challenging the creation of a global knowledge society. The event is part of the KAUST Winter Enrichment Program (WEP), taking place from January 12 to January 30, and held under the theme of water -- in acknowledgement of the UN International Year of Water Cooperation. WEP 2013 will host over fifteen keynote speakers including environmental advocate Philippe Cousteau Jr., veteran astronaut Claude Nicollier, and Mars Rover scientist and Director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Charles Elachi.
