Reshaping the Future of Agriculture

28/03/2010 | Montpellier

At a High Level Dialogue on ‘Reshaping agricultural research for development’ to be held on the first day of the Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD), Serageldin will moderate a panel discussion on ‘Reshaping agricultural research systems to meet the needs of the poor’. The High Level Dialogue comprises a series of panel discussions with each session led by a highly experienced moderator with extensive knowledge of agricultural research in development (respectively, Prof. Sir Gordon Conway, Dr Margaret Catley-Carlson and Serageldin). It is worth noting here that Serageldin was Chairman of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) from 1994 to 2000.

The sessions will be attended by around 800 delegates, including representatives of governments, major intergovernmental agencies, research institutions, civil society, development banks, donor agencies and the press.

Organized by Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR), the GCARD aims to create new ways to enhance the development value of agricultural research around the world.
