As Chairman of the Executive Council of the World Digital Library (WDL), Serageldin convened with the members of the Council for the 2013 Partner Meeting. The meeting opened with the welcome and introductory remarks of Serageldin and James Billiongton, Librarian of Congress.
Launched in April 2009, the WDL is a website that features cultural material from libraries and archives from around the world. It was developed by a team at the Library of Congress and technical assistance was provided by the BA as one of the WDL key partners and a major contributor of digitized content. The project aims to promote the free flow of knowledge.
