Rome is a city of culture, but not just Italian culture. They are open to celebrate all the cultures of the world. In the park of the villa Borghese is a magnificent collection of great statues to the great poets and writers of the world. Naturally, there was a statue for the Great Nizami Ganjavi. But also – quite close to him – was a statue of our prince of poets, Ahmed Shawki. All around us were these statues, and you could stop and reminisce about the contributions of each of these great poets. Dante, Byron, Pushkin and Gogol among so many others.
