Serageldin held discussions in the senate building, and was greeted by the president of the senate, Mrs Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati. Like so many other places in Italy, it is a historic building, with magnificent stuccoes on the walls and a fabulous painted ceiling. (see picture). This is a great policy to keep the historic buildings utilized.
Indeed he also had the pleasure of being invited by Ambassador Antonio Zanardi Landi and Mrs. Sabina Zanardi Landi to a dinner in the Palazzo Orsini. The Ambassador is the former Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Italy, and Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The Palazzo Orsini is being rehabilitated by the charitable order of the Knights of Malta, and the furniture and the décor are already back to much of their old splendor as they were some two hundred years ago, although the building itself is older.
