Meetings with World Food Prize Council of Advisors

As a member of the Council of Advisors of the World Food Prize, Serageldin joined the Council members for a meeting chaired by  Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn, President of the World food Prize Foundation.

The World food Prize was created in 1986, in realization of the vision of  Norman E Borlaug, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for his work in global agriculture. It  recognizes achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world. It has come to known as the Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture. The World Food Prize is awarded this year to Akinwumi Adesina, Nigeria, President of African Development Bank, for his role, over the past 25 years in spearheading major policies of comprehensive support for millions of farmers across the continent, including access to financing and agricultural technologies. 

The World Food Prize is holding a week-long set of events drawing over 1,000 participants from over 50 countries. A distinguished international Council of Advisors provides guidance and support to the foundation. The Council includes Former US President George Bush Sr.; Former US President Jimmy Carter; Former President of Mozambique Joaquim Chissano; Yohei Sasakawa, Nippon Foundation. and other eminent personalities from around the world.
