RAED Awards Serageldin Academic of Honor

Serageldin was today received as Academic of Honor by the Royal European Academy of Doctors (RAED). The ceremony was presided by José Canal, Undersecretary of State of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport; Pedro García Barreno, Secretary General of the Institute of Spain, and Alfredo Rocafort, President of RAED.

 

Three other distinguished personalities were also recognized as honorary members of the RAED on this day:

Aaron Ciechanover, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2004;

Björn O. Nilsson, President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences;

Josep Maria Gil-Vernet, pioneer in numerous urological techniques.

 

The ceremony was attended by more than 200 people including the rectors of several  Spanish universities, the Archbishop emeritus of Barcelona and more than 80 academics from the RAED.

 

Founded in 1914, the RAED’s principal activities are to promote and encourage advances in literature, sciences, health, arts and technology and to work for the cause of peace through the close relations of cooperation between all the scientific academies of the world.
