On the occasion of the inauguration of the new Patriarchal Museum in Alexandria, Pope Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa bestowed on Serageldin the Honor of the Golden Lion which is conferred on personalities, who have made significant contributions to the Pope and Patriarch for the Alexandrian Greek Orthodox Church.
Among the prominent figures participating in the inauguration ceremony event were Tarek Mahdy Governor of Alexandria; Kyriakous Gernodopoulos Greek Vice-minister of foreign affairs; Christodoulos Lazaris Greek Ambassador; Christos Kapodistrias, Consul General of Greece in Alexandria; and Spyridon Kamalakis, Chairman of the Hellenic Egyptian Friendship Association.
The new museum houses valuable publications from the monasteries of Egypt, and holy icons of great historical value from churches of the Holy Archdiocese of Alexandria and the church of St George in Kafr el Zayat.
